In one of our last blog posts on RFID technology, we already explained how important it is to always protect yourself against data theft. To protect RFID enabled cards like credit cards, more and more people are looking for the perfect device for their RFID protection.

Now there are many different providers of RFID blocking cards. The large selection can quickly lead to confusion for customers. You can often not determine which card meets your expectations best.

For this reason, we have carried out the internal test Blocking performance of different RFID blocking cards. See for yourself how the VAULTCARD compares to its competitors' RFID protection products.

Blocking cards tested:

- VAULTCARD by Vaultskin
- ArmourCard (works with a battery)
- SkimSafe by SkimSafe AB (most competitors use the same technology as SkimSafe)

Test setup:

- An RFID enabled bank card is placed directly on the card reader at all times.

- The test was performed with the standard RFID card reader (ACR122U), which is widely available in retail and online stores across the globe.
- X_{mm ,}y_mm – shifting coordinates of the blocking card related to the bank card, as shown in the figure on the right handside.
- d is the vertical distance between the cards.

Test results:

In the results table the successful blocking is identified with the sign +, whereas the failed blocking (bank card was read) is marked with -.

Summary:

- Test run 1, 2 & 3: VAULTCARD & ArmourCard are in the same position, SkimSafe can only keep up at one single distance
- Test run 4, 5, 7 & 8: VAULTCARD offers significantly better protection compared to competing products at any distance tested
